Sharon Brooks is the founder of Sharon’s Nutrition. She has been passionate about good health and nutrition from an early age. Sharon lives by the philosophy that eating well can make you feel well. Love your self, respect your body, nourish with proper nutrition.

Sharon has a Bachelor degree in Applied Science (Food Science and Nutrition) and due to her love of nutritional sciences is currently completing a Master of Human Nutrition. She has extensive experience in the food and health industries.

Sharon is a Registered Nutritionist with the Nutrition Society of Australia and a Food Scientist. She is a member of the Nutrition Society of Australia as well as Nutrition Australia.

Sharon’s approach and recommendations are based on current nutrition science and scientific research. Sharon does not believe in fad diets.

What are your favourite foods?
Raw nuts and seeds in colourful salads, fruit salad and yogurt, quinoa salads, smashed avocado and fetta on toasted sourdough rye, and dried fruit.

What is always in your fridge and pantry?
Leafy greens, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, pears, raw unsalted mixed nuts, seed mixes, yogurt, quinoa, white cheese, unprocessed peanut butter, green tea, dried fruit and seeded spelt wholegrain crackers.

What do you indulge on?
My food intake is very healthy but there are moments of indulgence. My kryptonite is dried fruit; but it’s the good kind with no sulphur dioxide. You laugh but have you tried wild figs and wild apricots??

How do you relax?
Exercise is a perfect way to wind down. Depending on the time and day an intense step class or lunch and a walk with friends does the trick. I also like day trips but when all else fails a comedy like The Big Bang Theory helps.

It’s a draw between The Hidden Messages in Water and The Brain That Changes Itself.

What are your plans for 2013?
2013 is proving to be a busy one. There will be more public speaking, nutrition articles, wellbeing seminars and workshops and a few very exciting ventures in the pipeline.
